Most home poker chip sets contain 4 or 5 colors, the most common of which are white, red, blue, green, and black, or any combination of the above. But most people don't know exactly what each chip is supposed to be valued at.
When playing games that use poker chips as a form of currency such as Texas Hold'em, 7 Card Stud, or Black Jack, it's always a good idea to know what the commonly accepted standards are for the values of the chips you're using.
